Fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday (June 5) in New York. She was 55.
Police are investigating her death as an apparent suicide.
In a statement issued by her family they asked for privacy as they came to terms with her death.
“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy. We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly. We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time,” the statement read.
She co-founded Kate Spade Handbags in 1993 with husband Andy Spade.
Kate is survived her her husband Andy, their 13-year-old daughter Frances Beatrix Spade, her brother-in-law David Spade, and more.
