Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has been named among the 100 Most Influential Africans of 2017 by New African Magazine.
The renowned magazine said Prof. Osinbajo was named in the Politics and Public Service category “for how he served as a safe pair of hands during President Muhammadu Buhari’s enforced absence for most part of 2017.”
According to the Magazine, only three Heads of State made the 2017 list – Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and President Alpha Conde of Guinea.
Prof. Osinbajo has been commended on different occasions for his leadership, loyalty to the President and service to the country.
It would be recalled that, on his return from medical vacation in the UK, President Muhammadu Buhari praised Prof. Osinbajo for his efforts at leading the country in his (President’s) absence.
“The efforts by the Vice President were commendable. He used his intellect to run all over the place. I was seeing him 24 hours on the Nigerian Television Authority. I congratulated him and I allowed him to come and see me to thank him personally for what he has done,” President Buhari said.
Only last week, Prof. Osinbajo was voted the Man of the Year in a Twitter poll conducted by SaharaReporters. The Vice President received 41 per cent out of the total 3,625 votes.
